Rental Policies And Information — Moose Lake Lodge

Following are the policies for renting homes at Moose Lake Lodge in Grand Lake, Colorado:

RESERVATION AND SECURITY DEPOSIT: A deposit is required when you make your lodging reservation. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. After your rental reservation deposit is received, a confirmation will be sent to you by mail, detailing the amount due, including 5.7% tax, the due date, and the number of occupants. The deposit will become the security deposit (see below). There will also be substantial additional charges if an excess number of people and/or pets occupy the premises. There is absolutely no sleeping in tents or in vehicles. It is not possible to park RVs on the Moose Lake Lodge property. Use of the property on Sun Valley Lake is restricted to the registered guests only. It is not possible to invite extra visitors without prior permission.

CANCELLATION POLICY: The reservation deposit, less a $75 handling fee, will be refunded, if written notice of cancellation is received more than 60 days prior to the first reserved date. If cancellation is made less than 60 days in advance, the deposit and final payments will be returned, less a $100 handling/advertising fee, only if we are able to rent to another party. We strongly urge guests to purchase travel insurance for their trip to Grand Lake. Full payment is required 45 days in advance or by the date designated on your confirmation statement. Reservations will be cancelled if full payment is not received by the designated due date, and the deposit will be forfeited. If, for any reason, the rental house becomes unfit for occupancy for your reserved dates (e.g. long term loss of power, long term plumbing problems, owner taking the house or cabin off the rental market), we would attempt to find similar accommodations for you or offer a refund. Refunds would be limited to total amount already paid to Moose Lake Lodge, LLC.

DAMAGE/CLEANING SECURITY DEPOSIT:  Your reservation deposit and your credit card information become the damage/cleaning security deposit. The deposit will be returned in full if the house is left in a clean, undamaged state, and no pay-per-view charges or additional expenses have been made. Deductions will be taken from the deposit and your credit card for needed excess cleaning damage, excess number of people/pets, and any other additional expenses. Prior to leaving, please refer to the checkout list posted in the house or cabin. Leave the beds you have used unmade.

NO SMOKING POLICY: No smoking inside the homes or cabins! If you smoke outside, you must not throw your cigarette butts on the grounds or leave your butts on the decks. Ensure that all cigarette butts are placed safely in Dumpster before you leave. If we need to pick up your cigarette butts, there will be a substantial amount deducted from your deposit. Also, in the summer, the fire danger can be very high.

FISHING POLICIES: Sun Valley Lake is a catch-and-release sport fishing lake. Please only keep fish that will not survive being released. Use barbless hooks or crimp your barbs so that the fish have a good chance of survival. (Please read detailed catch-and-release fishing guidelines posted in the houses and cabins).

WILDLIFE ADVISORY:  The wildlife in and around the homes, cabins, and lakes is abundant. Some of these animals can be dangerous, especially the moose, bear, and mountain lions. Be very cautious around these animals. Please be protective of the wildlife. To protect the rare ducks which breed around the lake, do no allow people, boats, or pets into the wetlands areas (i.e. the weeds around the edge of Sun Valley Lake). It is illegal and dangerous to harass any wildlife.

BOATING: If you choose to use our watercraft and/or life jackets (PFDS), you do so at your own risk. Be aware that canoes and other watercraft can tip over easily. You must familiarize yourself with safe boating practices and the precautions you should take when in the vicinity of large bodies of water. It is your responsibility to provide PFDs for yourself and your children. You must be sure the PFDs you use are the correct size and fit your children, and insist that they wear them when they’re on or near the lake. No power craft of any type is allowed on Sun Valley Lake. Use of any watercraft on Sun Valley Lake is at your own risk.

PET POLICY: If you wish to bring a pet to Moose Lake Lodge, please discuss this at the time of making your reservation. Pets are allowed in some of the houses and cabins only with prior approval. There is a limit of 2 dogs per house or cabin. In the summer, there is an additional charge of $15 per pet, per night. There might be a small additional charge per pet at other times. Pets must not run unattended and should be kept on a leash. Do not allow pets to trespass on our neighbors’ properties. Do not allow pets on the furniture or beds. Do no leave pets alone in the house. Please vacuum the floors used by your pet. Please pick up after your pet. We also have a more complete pet policy which you can review upon arrival.

WATER SUPPLY: You may prefer to bring bottled water for drinking and cooking. Mountain well water has a very high iron content, which sometimes stains the plumbing and other items in the house.

Moose Lake Lodge is a very special place, which we hope you’ll enjoy, and we appreciate that you are considering us for your next vacation.
